Mary Ann Smialek is an educator specializing in the remediation of Specific Learning Disabilities. She is the Director of Quest Solutions working in the areas of strategic planning, organizational development and team implementation strategies in education, health care and the business sector. Her primary focus is organizational change through process redesign efforts and human resources development, positive home-school connections, student success and positive team partnerships.

Mary Ann’s career as an educator includes professional experience as a Team Leader/Facilitator, Quality Trainer, Parenting Class Coordinator, Special Education and Regular Education Teacher. She is currently facilitating process improvement efforts in education through team development and home-school-community support partnerships.

Her credits include national and international presentations and seminars on team building and empowerment. She has authored articles on the dimensions of teams for Quality Progress and the Quality Management Forum. Mary Ann is the author of the Team Strategies for Success – Doing What Counts in Education, Scarecrow Press, Lanham, MD 2001, Inside Teams in Education, Phi Delta Kappa Educational Foundation, Bloomington, IN 2002, Don’t Miss the Bus! Her educational credits include a B.S. in Elementary Education, M.Ed. in Special Education/Specific Learning Disabilities and Ed. D. in Administrative and Policy Studies from the University of Pittsburgh. She holds professional Supervisor, Principal and Superintendent‘s certificates.

She is a member of the American Society for Quality’s Education Division and Phi Delta Kappa, a professional fraternity in education. Currently she is the editor of the American Society for Quality, Education Division’s QED NEWS and chair of the ASQ Education Focus Group.
